Saline Solution Breast Implants

Since their initial production, saline breast implants have been considered the safest implant on the planet. This is for a variety of reasons that we will discuss shortly. The more notable point is that despite their world renowned recognition as the safest implant currently available, they are not the number one more requested implant for breast augmentation.

Saline implants are filled with saline solution after they are in position. The surgeon will then fill them to the patient's desire. It is believed it is important to overfill a saline breast implant to prevent rippling and wrinkling.

Saline implants are generally less expensive than silicone gel implants. That's definitely a perk, although the price difference isn't significant (20% to 30%). There's two primary reasons why saline implants are cheaper: they use a saltwater solution as their filler, and silicone gel implants have been researched and critiqued more than any other medical device in the history of mankind.

Because saline implants are not filled with saline solution until after they are placed inside a woman's chest, they require very small incisions for the procedure, thus leaving much smaller and less noticeable scars.

Saline breast implants, when ruptured, leak extremely fast. The saltwater solution escapes the silicone implant shell quite rapidly, leaving a deflated implant inside the woman's breast. This makes a rupture very easy to spot, and any woman will who spots that her implant has ruptured will contact her plastic surgeon to discuss corrective procedures right away. In this respect, saline implants are far better than silicone gel.
