How To Find A Surgeon

The most critical aspect of having any kind of cosmetic surgery (especially invasive cosmetic surgery) is finding the right surgeon to do the job. Are you ready to find the right surgeon? If so, keep reading!

If you're at the point of scheduling a consultation with a surgeon, then you've already done some homework on your own: you've joined user groups and discussion forums, you've talked with other women who've already had your surgery, you've compiled a list of pertinent questions to ask during your surgeon consultation. In short, you've done everything within your power to find out the information that is relevant to the procedure you wish to have. Now it's time to sit down, face to face, with an actual, practicing plastic surgeon.

Your next step for finding a surgeon is to visit the American Society of Plastic Surgeons at plasticsurgery.org. You will be able to perform a search for a specialist who is local to your area. From that list of practicing surgeons, you will need to call them and request an initial consultation. Not all surgeons provide free consultations for new patients, but some do. If cost is an issue, make sure that you ask them what the fee is for consulting with the surgeon.

Recovery From Breast Enhancement Surgery

Breast enhancement surgeries are on the rise. In particular, breast augmentation surgeries are increasing in numbers every year. More and more women want larger, firmer breasts and they are willing to spend thousands of dollars to have them, and spend several months in recovery.

When you first awaken after your surgery, you will be groggy and delirious from the anesthesia. This will pass in time, usually within an hour or two. At that point you should be able to go home. Of course, it will be up to your surgeon when you get to go home.

Your surgeon will require that you wear a compression bra to hold your breasts in place and prevent any unnecessary movement. Don't skip this or think you can do without it. The bra is required for a reason!

You will need to stay at home for at least a few days. Hopefully you will have planned your recovery properly and have at least one person catering to your needs at home. This person should take care of any responsibilities of yours that require physical work. Remember, you aren't supposed to lift your arms above your head until your doctor says it's ok!

Plenty of rest and plenty of water are the next two biggest requirements of you during your recovery. Those two along with the two prescriptions your surgeon gives you (one, and antibiotic, and two, a pain killer). Be sure you take both prescriptions until they're gone.

Breast Reduction Surgery

Women all over the world want larger, firmer breasts. And they're wiling to undergo breast augmentation surgery to get them. They only need to plunk down around five thousand dollars and in just a few short months of recovery, they will have a brand new set of breasts. Considering that breast augmentation is the number one performed plastic surgery in the world, it's hard to believe that many women would want nothing more than to have smaller breasts!

Gigantic breasts create a number of problems for women, including chronic neck and back pain, physical limitations, and emotional distress.

Imagine having thirty pounds of weight hanging from your neck all day long. Every time you stand up, sit down, climb stairs, or do anything physical whatsoever, you have to deal with this excess weight hanging off your neck. Doesn't sound like fun, does it? These same limitations will impede your ability to enjoy or participate in sports of any kind.

Besides those above listed problems, emotional distress is another issue that is often overlooked by women who are opting for breast augmentation surgery. Women with extremely large breasts are often stereotyped by both men and women, resulting in inappropriate comments at work and in normal daily living.

Breast reduction can provide a real solution for women who have enormous breasts. If you think it might be a viable solution for you, please contact a licensed, board certified surgeon and schedule an initial consultation.

Breast Lift Information

If you're a woman who's had babies and breast fed them, then you know what happens to your breasts: they sag and droop and lose their firmness. It's not a pretty sight! Not only do your breasts begin to look like anything but firm, perky breasts of a 20-something girl, but your confidence level plummets just as rapidly and leaves you feeling self conscious about removing your clothes in front of anyone. Thankfully, modern science has a solution for you: breast lift surgery.

A surgeon who specializes in breast lift surgeries can return your drooping, sagging breasts to a more youthful, perky demeanor. He or she will remove excess fat and skin tissue. He or she may also relocate your areola and nipple.

If you're considering a breast lift surgery, you should start doing your research online. Join forums and user groups, chat directly with other women who've undergone the surgery. Ask them what they would have done different. Ask them if they were happy with their surgeon and the recovery process. Ask them as many questions as possible and try to learn as much as you can.

When you feel like you've gathered information about the surgery, and you feel it may be the best solution for your needs, then it is time to speak with a real breast lift surgeon. You can find a surgeon through the American Society of Plastic Surgeons by using their geographic search function – you should be able to find several of them. Give each a call and see if they offer a free initial consultation for new clients.

Breast Implants Rupture And leak

Before a woman undergoes breast augmentation surgery, she must take all factors into consideration. She must think about the costs, the preparation for surgery – both mental and physical, the surgery itself, the recovery process, and the effects a new set of large breasts will have on her life. That is a lot to think about, and any woman considering surgery must take serious consideration of all potential side effects of the surgery and the emotional and physical changes that will take effect after her recovery is complete.

One of the risks of breast implants is implant rupture and leakage. After a long enough period of time, every implant will rupture. That is why most women have their implants replaced right around the 10 year mark.

Saline implants are considered the safest implants because they are filled with a saltwater solution which is completely harmless to the human body. Should a saline implant rupture and leak, the woman is relatively safe, at least from the standpoint of the saline solution being absorbed into her bloodstream.

Silicone implants are not quite so safe. Sure, the FDA has approved them for unrestricted use, but their controversy still hangs in the air and it won't be going away any time soon. If a silicone implant ruptures, it will most likely take an MRI to detect it. If a silicone implant ruptures and leaks and an MRI isn't used, chances are high that the silicone implant will go undetected for several years.

Cohesive gel implants, the newest implants to hit the U.S. market, are made from a solid silicone gel. They are not a liquid, so therefore they cannot leak, at least in the traditional sense. Some people believe that cohesive gel implants are the safest implant currently available. It's too bad the FDA has not yet approved these implants – it could be another 10 or 20 years before they are available for aesthetic-only breast augmentation surgeries.

Gummy Bear Breast Implants

Are you an adventurous woman? Would you like to take a ride on the wild side, and buy yourself a pair of fancy new breasts? If you are such a woman, you might want to consider the latest and greatest implant to hit the United States: the Gummy Bear Breast implant!

Cohesive gel implants are the newest proverbial kid on the block in the breast augmentation industry. They have acquired the nickname "Gummy Bear Implants" because of their consistency and feel. They are a solid mass of gel, not a liquid. They feel just like the popular gummy bear candy, hence their nickname.

During production, manufacturers of cohesive implants use what is called a cross linker. This additive makes the gel bind together and form a solid mass of gel, but a pliable one. You can squeeze it and it feels very much like traditional silicone gel. There are currently four grades of consistency; yes, you can choose to have harder or softer cohesive gel implants.

Perhaps the greatest benefit of cohesive gel implants is the simple fact that they do not rupture. They are a solid mass of gel, not a liquid, therefore they cannot leak silicone gel into the human body. Some believe this one fact makes them the safest implant currently available. Of course, the FDA still has yet to approve of these implants, and that could take another 15 to 20 years.

Depending on your perspective, another potential benefit to cohesive gel implants is the fact that they don't succumb to the effects of gravity. If a woman were to stand up straight, her cohesive gel implants will have a nice shape and position. However, if she were to stand on her head, they will maintain their same shape and position! Since they are not made from liquid, the filler does not move around inside the silicone shell, and the implants don't actually change their shape, not even in the slightest. Depending on how you feel about it, this could be a benefit or a detriment.

The greatest downfall regarding cohesive gel implants is the simple fact that they aren't currently approved by the U.S. FDA. Basically, if you're a woman living in the United States, you can't get cohesive gel implants unless you apply for the clinical trial, and you are approved for the clinical trial. Despite the fact that cohesive gel implants have been in use for almost 20 years outside the U.S., they are not yet approved and the FDA does not recognize data that wasn't collected by their own clinical trial.

Saline Solution Breast Implants

Since their initial production, saline breast implants have been considered the safest implant on the planet. This is for a variety of reasons that we will discuss shortly. The more notable point is that despite their world renowned recognition as the safest implant currently available, they are not the number one more requested implant for breast augmentation.

Saline implants are filled with saline solution after they are in position. The surgeon will then fill them to the patient's desire. It is believed it is important to overfill a saline breast implant to prevent rippling and wrinkling.

Saline implants are generally less expensive than silicone gel implants. That's definitely a perk, although the price difference isn't significant (20% to 30%). There's two primary reasons why saline implants are cheaper: they use a saltwater solution as their filler, and silicone gel implants have been researched and critiqued more than any other medical device in the history of mankind.

Because saline implants are not filled with saline solution until after they are placed inside a woman's chest, they require very small incisions for the procedure, thus leaving much smaller and less noticeable scars.

Saline breast implants, when ruptured, leak extremely fast. The saltwater solution escapes the silicone implant shell quite rapidly, leaving a deflated implant inside the woman's breast. This makes a rupture very easy to spot, and any woman will who spots that her implant has ruptured will contact her plastic surgeon to discuss corrective procedures right away. In this respect, saline implants are far better than silicone gel.

Silicone Gel Implants

The number one most requested implant in the united states is the silicone breast implant. It's not because of their safety record – they've been under the microscope since the 60's for health and safety issues. It's not because they are easy to detect when they rupture - point of fact: they are the worst implant in regards to rupture and leakage. It's not because they leave minimal scars – due to the fact that they are pre-filled, they leave the largest scars of all implants! No, it's not for any of the above mentioned reasons they are the most popular. The reason that women want these implants more than any other kind of breast implant is simple: they look and feel like a real breast!

Men and women unanimously agree that silicone gel implants feel the best in the hand. When you squeeze them, they feel like real breast tissue. When they move with the natural movements of the body, the move like a real breast should move. This just goes to show you that the ultimate reason why people want surgery is for their own self confidence and appearance. In this situation, safety actually comes second because it's no secret that saline breast implants are considered the safest implant in the world.

It's true: silicone breast implants have a complicated history that is littered with lawsuits and health concerns. They were even banned for fourteen within the United States. But once the FDA finally approved them for unrestricted use, within 1 year they were topping the request list for women electing for breast augmentation surgery.

Outside of the health concerns, silicone gel implants have a few other negative attributes: they cost more, they leave larger scars, and they are very difficult to spot if they should rupture and begin leaking gel into a woman's body.

If you would like to learn more about silicone gel implants, you should speak directly with a plastic surgeon that specializes in the field. Only a licensed physician can give you accurate feedback when it comes to your health concerns.

Is Breast Augmentation Right For You?

Do you know what the number one performed plastic surgery procedure is in the world? It's breast augmentation. Of course, that doesn't take into consideration the minor types of plastic surgery, such as microdermabrasion or botox injections.

Breast augmentation is popular for one simple reason: it is very important to women that they feel sexy and attractive. And whether you like it or not, large, round, and firm breasts are closely associated with high sex appeal. Naturally, any woman who wants to feel more confident about herself will consider getting breast implants at one point in her life or another.

Modern science and technology has made getting breast implants rather easy. You will need to speak directly with a plastic surgeon (or perhaps several of them) to determine whether or not you are an ideal candidate. While you are speaking with the surgeon, he or she will be evaluating your overall character and mental/emotional state to determine if the surgery is right for you.

Once you've picked a surgeon, all you need to do is schedule the actual procedure. And, of course, plunk down a few thousand dollars.

Your surgeon and his staff will prep you for the procedure. He or she will cover everything you need to know in order to have a speedy, healthy recovery.
